Man & environment

Clothing is close to our heart. It is part of us and it acts as a form of self-expression. Knowing how, where and by whom the clothing is produced is becoming more important for consumers, supposing that production benefits humans and the environment. DPDB knows this! We work hard (together with our manufacturers and fabric suppliers) for a humane, chemically safe and sustainable production process.

To be sure that these three aspects are fulfilled, we visit our factories all around the world on multiple occasions.  We evaluate the complete production process to make sure they live up to the standards that we aspire to. In this way we jointly implement corporate social responsibility.

This is also the reason that we are affiliated with BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative). In this organisation many producers, wholesalers and warehouses are united to improve working conditions in the global supply chain. One of the most important projects is the coordination of the audits of our textile factories. They are frequently inspected based on preset criteria (code of conduct).

It doesn’t stop at membership alone.  Senior merchandiser, Gabrielle Frankenmolen: “I maintain contact with our suppliers about BSCI-related subjects and quality manuals, but I also look at the compliance with the REACH  rules. REACH is a European regulation on chemical substances and is short for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances.  We are currently jointly formulating a policy statement and a strategy with Modint, relating to these important topics.  These are issues which we handle structurally, starting with awareness and knowledge sharing with our manufacturers as well as within our own organisation.  Soon we will have a special section on the website for our suppliers with, among others, customer instructions and rules and regulations.
